Overview The ESI-32 has an enhancement of the OS developed for the Emulator III in 1988. The Operating System is held on two 256 KB EPROM chips, making a total OS size of 512 KB. The OS can only be upgraded by replacing the chips.

OS 1.4 The first OS launched with the ESI-32. Two major bug fixes. bus error and sample feedback on power up.

OS 2.0 A bug fix release which improved the data encoder acceleration, provioded faster boot times from a Syquest drive, cleaned up the CDROM loading and implemented some screen changes in the Digital Processing Loop feature.

OS 2.1 This was a major improvement over previous releases, there are new features as well as a number of bug fixes.

OS 2.12 This version supports the newer Motorola Processors.

OS 3.00 The initial version 3 release.

OS 3.01 This software original came with the TURBO kit, but it introduced a MIDI sample dump bug, which had to be fixed in a new release - version 3.02.

OS 3.02 The latest software with all version 3 features and the MIDI sample dump problem fixed. sample bug fixed.

are has many new features for the ESI sampler and bug fixes. Still available from E-mu Systems at $99. The new filters types are direct copies of those implemented in the Orbit sound module.

These digital filters originate from the Z-plane filter technology first used in the Morpheus module, and are; two High Pass, three Band Pass, three new Low Pass filters, a Flanger, three Swept filters, three Phasers, two Vocal filters, and the famous Bottom Feeder (
bass distortion).

This OS is still available from E-mu Systems, priced at $99. It comes in a large cardboard box, with a manual addendum, installation guide, two EPROM's and a chip removal tool.

The digital sonic enhancer is a function that has been added to the Digital Processing menu. It adds brilliance and 'cut' to a sample, making it stand out in the mix.
