Emulator III : Factory Diskette Samples
Sound Libraries
A large sound library for the EIII was developed from 1988 into the mid 90's. Third party libraries sprang up alongside an expanding and high quality E-mu Systems Library, and many of the samples are still commercially available.
The EIII (and subsequent very similar EIIIx sample format) can be read by all modern E-mu Systems samplers, and various samplers from other manufacturers - such as Roland and Akai. A large number of CDROM's were developed for the Emulator
III, and we have a dedicated page with all the details. more »
E-mu Systems Factory Library The EIII sample library started development in the Spring of 1988. These sample banks were initially released as packs of 4 - 6 diskettes in a special soft plastic box. They
retailed at $70 - 95, and were 4MB in size. The samples were developed under the leadership of Kevin Monahan at E-mu Systems.
By 1989 there were 54 banks of either 4 or 8MB, available on
diskette or RM45 cartridges. The diskette library was gradually phased out in the early 1990's, and replaced by more cost effective sample CDROM 's - as SCSI CDROM drives became
affordable. You can still get these samples in EIII format on two CDROM's; Emulator Standards and More Emulator Standards.
