AM3310 Module - ADSR Envelope Generator
Overview The CEM3310 of 1979 was the first of
a new generation of synth chips introduced by Doug Curtis. It's snappy envelopes formed the basis for many analog polysynths over the next five years including the Prophet 5 Revision 3, the Oberheim OB8 and the awesome PPG Wave 2.0. It
was eventually replaced by micro-processor created envelopes, which struggled to achieve the fast attack times of a dedicated chip until processor speeds increased in the late 80's.
AM Circuit
The AM3310 module is based around the Digisound design which is more sophisticated than the usual basic polysynth implementation. The module provides voltage control of the envelopes, and positive and negative envelopes
at modular control levels. It also implements trimming of the sustain level to ensure it matches the peak level.
There is a manual trigger button as well as a red LED for when the Gate is on
and a blue LED for when the attack phase is active. The circuit has been carefully checked to ensure the minimum attack times are below 2ms, to get that snappy feel.
Panel
The front panel is 90mm wide with 3mm aluminium, 4U high, with black lettering. Controls knobs are standard Eµ Modular designs.
