The History of E-mu Systems Starships and Synthesizers since 1984
Overview E-mu Systems have led the world in creating
innovative electronic music instruments for over 30 years. They are the oldest synthesizer company still in existence, and they remain successful in 2002 with a new range of exciting products.
"Starships and Synthesizers since 1984" provides a complete history of E-mu Systems from their early days when they worked in a garage, through the ambition to be a US$100 million
company, to their current status as a subsiduary of Creative.
The book covers the technology, the instruments, the business challenges, and the creative use of the instruments in a wide
variety of music. The writer will explore how E-mu Systems managed to produce a series of ground breaking instruments in the 1980's, how this creativity was sparked and what has happened to it now.
What's in a Title?
The title of the book is the name of the sign that E-mu Systems had above their office door when they first started out as a formal company in 1972. It is an excellent title for the book as it embodies what E-mu Systems stands for!
