Emulator III : OS Versions
Overview The Emulator III was released with a brand new Operating System that exploited the larger 4 line LCD. The OS
followed general E-mu Systems development policy of being released with basic functionality, and then being upgraded through various versions so that additional features could be added and bugs removed.
OS 2.42 The final Emulator III Operating System, which added improved SCSI stability.
OS 2.20 This version adds the following features:
- Housekeeping for the removable RM45 drive
- Loop Compression
- Digital Equaliser
- Dynamic Digital Filtering (2-pole)
- Digital Compressor
- Improved Stereo Phasing
- More control over SCSI Devices
- Version 2.0 Boot ROM released as well
OS 2.00 Little is known about this release other than it adds SCSI arbitration so that a Mac can sit on the SCSI bus as well as the Emulator III.
OS 1.21 This Operating System was released in the Summer of 1988, and it provided new digital effects, a scrub wheel (using the modulation wheel to move through the sample), and a stacked preset mode. The upgrade also came with the Tutorial Manual (with black binder) and page updates to the Operations Manual. It was free for registered owners. Riley Smith at E-mu Systems looked after the Tutorial Manual development. The Manual has the following sections:

OS 1.13 This Operating System was current in the Spring of 1988, it was issued as a free upgrade along with the first Emulator Three Reference Manual (and a footpedal !).
OS 1.XX The original EIII Operating System which went out with the first models along with a very basic manual.
