AM2600 Module - Blacet Digital Pattern Generator
Overview This module is based on one of the first Blacet Research designs of 1978. The circuit was published in Synapse magazine in December 1977, and
the module was available as a kit for a few years.
The DPG provides a control voltage source with up to 14 step sequences, with 4 variable control voltages that are summed, and a variable clock rate.
The DPG can be gated,
triggered and run up or down by external control. Blacet no longer make this module, but the current Binary Zone is based on the DPG, see the Blacet Research web site for more information. more »
Circuit The Digital Pattern Generator is based around a CMOS 4516 four bit binary counter, which runs from an internal or external clock. The counter sequences 4 control voltages (and LED's) as ascending or descending binary numbers from 0 - 15. The control voltages are varied from front panel controls and summed into a simple Op Amp buffer, which has a normal and lagged output.
AM Build Whilst the current Binary Zone module is much more powerful, the DPG is still an interesting project. Our design will have an internal clock. The DPG fits in a standard 90mm AM panel.
