AM0901 Module - Oakley MIDI Interface
Overview This module is a standard Oakley MIDI DAC2 interface built into an AM module and panel format. This was one of the first modules to be built, so that I could trigger the
modules over MIDI. It was comissioned on 15th August 2003.
Circuit
The Oakley design provides an excellent MIDI interface, with a range of control voltages available in addition to pitch. The pitch CV and gate outputs are normalised to one of the two CV/gate distribution busses in cabinet 1. Velocity, Modulation and Aftertouch control voltages are on the front panel jacks.
Build
The standard Oakley PCB was easy to populate and it was mounted onto the AM panel using the usual ECO solder pot brackets, spaced at 41 mm, and mounted on the rear of the PCB - so that the PCB clears the jack sockets. The PCB is supported by the left hand column of pots, and I have changed the order of the pots around from Tony's PCB. I had to solder some components on the back of the PCB to clear the jack sockets, so its a little unusual behind the panel!
Set Up
I set the front panel TUNE to mid position and adjusted the V/OCT and INIT trimmers to give 2.000V at MIDI C1 and 7.000 at MIDI C6. The settings varied very slightly over several hours. The maximum bend range is around 1.7V, or 20 tones.
Panel The front panel is a standard AM design, 90mm wide and 4U high, with black lettering. Controls knobs are standard Eµ Modular designs.
